Historical Context
In 467 AD Leo I came to an agreement with Ricimer, the western magister militum, which for exchange of the eastern emperor on the throne of the western empire (Anthemius) comprised the retaking of Africa from Vandals by Leo I - an expedition which was a military and financial desaster.
