Historical Context
In 17 BC, a Roman called Scribonius headed a rebellion in the Bosporan Kingdom; Augustus sent Marcus Agrippa, who put down the rebellion and restored the Queen Dynamis to power; as a sign of gratitude the city of Pantikapaion was named Caesarea and the city of Phanagoria took the name Agrippia.
