History:
Neocaesarea was a birthplace of Gregory the Wonderworker (ca 213 – ca 270 AD), later the bishop of his native town, of whom is said that, at the time of his consecration, Neocaesarea had only seventeen Christians and that at his death it counted only seventeen pagans.
