History: Somewhere in 470s BC Jason became the successor of his father as a tyrant of Pherai and ruler of most Thessaly; he was seen by some (Isokrates) as a man who could unite whole Greece; he was however killed in 370 BC and the centre of power shifted to Macedonia.
