Commentary:
Dumbarton oaks lists two examples of this type where Heraclius wears a paludamentum and does not hold a shield in his left, both were struck in year three; brown patina, good details
History:
Trying to bridge the gap between the Chalcedon Christianity (Christ having two natures in one person) and monophysitism (Christ having one nature of both divine and human elements), Heraclius supported an new proposed monotheletism (two natures, one will) and put it forth in an edict known as the Ekthesis, which was rejected by nearly everyone.
