Romanus IV (1068 - 1071). AE Follis, Constantinople mint. IC-XC over NI-KA to left and right of bust of Christ facing, dotted cross behind head, holding book of Gospels with both hands / Cross with globus and two pellets at each end and saltire at centre; C-R-P-Δ in angles.

dark grey patina with some deposits, sharp details with great portrait of Christ
History:
After nearly 100 years of extensive minting of so called "anonymous folles", putting the Christ and sometimes Mary on the coin and avoiding any reference to the earthly ruler, here Romanus shyly and modestly put his initials on reverse.
